Netzwerk der Baukultur
Netzwerk der Baukultur
network
The ‘Netzwerk der Baukultur’ has developed through time. It collects single individuals, associations, public institutions as well as private organizations, which are committed in one way or the other to the advancement of the quality of the built environment, for example through the creation of exemplary, innovative buildings or landscaping projects, the promotion of innovation in architecture or the reuse and preservation of building heritage.
The ‘Netzwerk der Baukultur’ consists of two parts: a map and an index. To map is an action of investigation, of researching. To index what one found, is a way of giving order, of trying to understand the potential of something encountered previously. In the case of the ‘Netzwerk der Baukultur’, the aim was to reveal past or current accomplishments as much as to suggest future possibilities.
One of the most important formats of the foundation has always been the awarding of its price for the advancement of the culture of the built, a first of its kind. The actors, initiatives or institutions, which have been awarded in its numerous editions, form the core of the network, in addition and through time other actors were added and an increasingly detailed map of projects and activities in and around Thuringia was drawn.
The network is never complete, nor is it unitary. It overlaps and contains other networks. For example, networks or associations such as the Council on Housing or the Timber-Construction Alliance. Both were founded in relation to specific initiatives by Stiftung Baukultur Thüringen and different partners.
The network is open to everyone, it is an invitation to follow an excellent example as much as to join hands and start a project much large than once forces permit. Finally it is an overview, even if imperfect, of a community, which is on the move, in case you want to support your local community or the region you are based in: take a look, you might find the partner you were looking for.
