Mapping Clegna
Capo di Ponte
Mapping Clegna is dedicated to the Clegna torrent, which originates in the highlands of the western mountainside of Val Camonica. It consists of one large map of the torrent in scale 1:500 and a collection of drawings of a selection of large rocks present along his course.

Both works contemplate the stretch of the Clegna between Ponte delle Capre and the point where the Clegna flows into the Oglio river at Capo di Ponte. They are the result of a direct, physical, repeated and continuous experience of the torrent conducted between the months of February and May 2012.

The geometry of the drawing has ontological value and opens new possibilities for investigation. What is the Clegna? What experiences exist along its course? How does one change, when confronted with the world of the Clegna, made up of differences, tiny details, the presence of immemorial times, the continuous sudden changes of scale, orographic transfigurations, accidents? Through a series of thoughtful choices and accidental encounters drawings were produced by contemplating the complementarity of water and the mineral surfaces and boulders, between water and vegetation, between stasis and movement.

Direct observations were conducted on 14 and 22, 26, 28 February, 14, 20, 26, 28, 29, 31 March, 4 and 25 April, 4 May 2012
