This web project gives access on a single website to the different activities of SOARC - The Society for Architecture. Its design focuses on the impact of visual materials. Images take prominence above textual information. In fact, texts only appear after an image has been seen or scrolled over. Images lay the foundation and texts add additional information to further the reading activity.

The website contains mostly three different functional parts: portfolio pages give access to information about the cultural, editorial and educational activities of SOARC, a query interface gives access to the vast materials of SOARC’s archive, and a web shop provides the possibility to browse through the catalogue of SOARCS’s editorial products, get additional information about an item as well as to acquire it through a checkout process complete with shipping and payment functionality.

Each entry of a section links to all related entries in other sections of the site. An entry in the visual atlas, for example, could link to a publication it is published in or an entry to the program section to the editorial project it relates to. This way the materials presented on the website continuously combine the activities of seeing, observing, interpreting, learning, practicing, using, without implying a fixed hierarchy or order between them. They are rather a reminder that in architecture as well as in other material practices all these actions are continuously carried out and do not exist without one another.
